A trial should be narrow enough to measure and meaningful enough to inform a larger deployment.

A defined local area

A feeder, neighbourhood, housing portfolio or comparable system boundary.

Relevant flexible assets

A practical set of heat pumps, EV chargers or other controllable electrical loads.

Shared success measures

Technical, network, operational and participant outcomes agreed before the trial.

Establish high-resolution visibility on a selected LV feeder and define the local demand problem.

Convert measured demand into flexibility metrics using building and thermal-response models.

Expand from a feeder to streets, substations and wider network areas as the method is validated.
